Regular slot for Chalfonts Beekeepers' Society at Old Amersham Market on 2nd Saturday of the month
Amersham was first granted a Royal Charter to hold markets by King John in 1200 and, since 1682, these have been held beneath the Market Hall. A bustling market is still held there, every Saturday from 9.00am until 3pm (autumn/winter) or 4pm (spring/summer).
Chalfonts Beekeepers Society has now been invited to take a stall in the market once a month, on the second Saturday. We see this as a wonderful opportunity to raise our profile locally, fulfil our charitable purpose of educating the public about bees and beekeeping and, hopefully, to sell lots of honey, so we have agreed to take it on a trial basis, while we gauge the level of support from members and whether we will have enough honey to sell throughout the year.
Our first date was Saturday, 9th August and, since this particular day was quieter than usual, we were asked to come again the following week. On that first day, ten members sold honey under thirteen different labels, so the stall displayed an impressive range of local honey. It looked great!
Any help with future events, however small, would be very much appreciated. Whether that is setting up, from 7:30am; manning the stall, or helping clear away. If everyone is able to contribute a few hours, we should be able to run the stall every month.
