New legislation to reduce overcrowding in hives comes into effect

1 Apr 2023

New legislation coming into effect today to improve conditions for livestock has led to restrictions on the number of bees per colony. The total number of bees per colony is now capped at 20,000. Beekeepers will need to monitor their hives throughout the season to comply with the new rules, or could face fines and other penalties.
