Karen van Oostrum - Flowers & Pollinators: an introduction to the flora of the Chilterns and a guide to pollinator-friendly gardening
Karen has a lifelong love of plants and the natural environment and enjoys sharing her knowledge through
courses, talks and guided walks. A Biology graduate of Oxford University with a Ph.D. in wheat genetics, she was previously Head of Education at Cambridge University Botanic Garden, working with learners of all ages and backgrounds.
Today, Karen works as a freelance botanist and educator. She is an Associate Tutor for the Field Studies Council (FSC), writing and delivering botany courses for adults and teaching Biology and Geography field skills to school groups. She is also a tutor for the Botanical Society of Britain and Ireland (BSBI) Identiplant course, trains volunteer botanical surveyors for the Chilterns National Landscape ‘Tracking the Impact’ programme, and holds…
