Club Meeting: Professor David Evans (aka The Apiarist)

David Evans is Emeritus Professor of Virology at the University of St. Andrews. His research interests include both Deformed wing virus (DWV) and Chronic bee paralysis virus (CBPV).

David is lucky enough to combine his job with his interest in beekeeping – an activity that pre-dates his research by several years. He runs about twenty colonies on the remote west coast of Scotland and is particularly interested in queen rearing and ‘pottering in the shed with bits of wood and a nail gun’

He is going to talk to us about the many uses of nucleus colonies and how to manage them.
