Beginners' Course

The course is primarily aimed at people considering becoming a beekeeper, but is open to anyone with an interest in Honey Bees. The people who run the course are all experienced, enthusiastic volunteers who give their time freely.

The course consists of six classroom sessions plus practical sessions at our club apiary, designed to give you an understanding of the theory and practice of beekeeping. The aim of the course is to equip you with sufficient knowledge and confidence to begin keeping bees in the same year. In addition to the course we will provide you with a mentor who can guide you and help you to gain experience in your first year.

The classroom sessions will be held in Seer Green on the Saturday mornings: 27th January; 3rd February; 10th February; 24th February; 9th March and 16th March. ​In addition to monthly meetings, the Club’s facilities are also at your disposal, including a library of beekeeping books, equipment rental, discounts on equipment purchases, and practical support.
