Well done catching your first swarm
If your top bar hive is a four foot job you are good to go for a couple of months at least- even in a three foot you are probably OK for a few weeks I would think so you do need your new hive but not urgently for the moment
Good luck with your bees

I think she kills off the other queen cells/larvae as soon as she emerges
ie well before she goes on her first flight

Glad the bees were Ok with your workmen
Here is a thread about keeping combs straight which might help you
from Phil
and two videos Number 1 and Number 2 from Outofblueskies
(Please note not all of the things on this video I agree with as a natural type beekeeper but the comb management bit is good to see)
Hope this is helpful

Perhaps you could offer the nearest worker to the hives a smock and veil just to be on the safe side but otherwise 'education' is the key here I think
Have you seen FollowMeChaps and the removal of a complete bee tree from someones garden HERE
Love the picture Jaywoo

Marvellous video Bernhard Thankyou but I have to say this person is an incredibly 'clean' worker-I am afraid I would have wax all over the kitchen with this huge pot of wax-my hand shakes just thinking about it-DOH
